CGEA Laureate Nomination Guidelines
Award Criteria
Individuals who are nominated for the award should have exhibited one of
more of the following contributions to the CGEA:
Leadership: Significantly shaped, re-organized, or otherwise enhanced
the direction of CGEA.
Development of Other Medical Educators: Provided high caliber faculty
development, mentoring, and/or guidance to young investigators in medical
education.
CGEA Annual Program: Made significant contributions to the structure
and or format of the CGEA annual program, outstanding record of
presentations to CGEA.
Standard Setter: Epitomizes the highest standards in medical
education profession through on-going scholarly contributions that advance
the discipline of medical education in the CGEA.
Selection Process
Charter Members
Should be exemplars of the characteristics outlined under criteria (see
above).
Should not exceed 8 recipients.
Selected by Executive Committee and announced at the CGEA Spring 1998
Meeting.
On-Going Members
Selection committee composed of immediate past CGEA chair, a current member
of the Society, and is lead by the current CGEA chair. Selection committee
would solicit nominations and supporting documents Nov-Dec (via announcement
at CGEA Fall Meeting, postings on CGEA WEB page).
Select up to 1 member per year.
Timeline
Announce installation of charter group at 1998 Spring CGEA Meeting.
Responsibilities of Society Members
As one of the purposes of establishing this society is to have the CGEA
continue to benefit from these individuals collective expertise,
responsibilities during the CGEA annual meetings will include:
Presentation of the annual Medical Education Laureate Lecture (the most
recent recipient will present at the lecture the following year).
Participation in Meet the Laureate's sessions at the CGEA (e.g.,
roundtables, late afternoon sessions).
Approved at the CGEA Business Meeting, November 5, 1997.
